Fashion is the language of mankind. Always spoken, but yet unknown"
- Roland Barthes, philosophist and semiotician, 1967

Fashion has always been both - art and everyday object. As one of the fastest moving parts of human culture, Georg Simmel, one of the first fashion theorists, already stated in 1905, that fashion does not ask the question "to be or not to be", simply because it is presence, past and future at the same time with ephemerality being an inherent characteristic of the fashion phenomenon.

In a society where being up-to-date is a neccessity of being fashionable, I search for the little things, that tell stories about the past. An old pair of shoes, the borrowed shirt of a close friend or the inherited watch of the grandmother. I believe that it is these constant yet more and more fading things, that shape who we are today.

And since fashion is understood as an expression of character, I try to understand the language of mankind on my way through the streets and get to know you a little better.
